Join Culture Connect SA for two great upcoming events, in one of which we’re involved:
Thursday 25 August
Sue Williamson’s studio, new monograph, and supper, in association with ArtThrob
Friday 2 September
Curator-led tour of ‘Studio’, a major exhibition at the Iziko South African National Gallery (SANG)
The evening of the 25th August starts at Sue Williamson’s studio in Salt River to hear more about her new monograph, and her take on the art scene. Sue has a highly respected position in the South African art world, as an artist and writer. Supper will be close by. On the 2nd September, co-curator Andrea Lewis will lead our tour of the large survey of South African art, ‘Studio’, at the Iziko South African National Gallery; lunch afterwards.
From Sue Williamson’s website, part of her video work There’s something I must tell you:
Sue Williamson’s work is internationally recognised. Part of the 1970s pioneering generation of artists, her work continues to address social issues. Sue is also an acclaimed art writer. She founded ArtThrob, a key source of information about South Africa’s contemporary art. For this Culture Connect (a first) Sue will talk about her work and the art-scene here. ArtThrob’s latest limited editions and Sue’s new book will be available. Our three course sit down dinner is nearby at Julia Hattingh’s new eatery, with its long one table.
6pm for 6h30 – 9h30; R400 early bird (pre Aug); R550 pre-pay (R800 on the night).
