Michael Croeser at KZNSA Gallery

Michael Croeser is increasingly well-known known for his meticulous, labour-intensive charcoal drawings. His subject matter is distortion, fueled by absurdity, mutation and decay. Croeser’s treatment of light is both sinister and beautiful, with voluminous shadows often swallowing up whole areas of the drawing. Croeser will exhibit four of these completed drawings, along with some of his reference material. In addition, the exhibition includes a series of spontaneous line drawings in coloured pencil crayons on paper, where freer compositions introduce an element of chance that is entirely contrary to his usual method of intricate planning.
