Gallery MOMO opens in Cape Town

A story by Artthrob on the 30th of May 2015. This should take you < 1 minute to read.

Gallery MOMO announces their expansion into an eponymous gallery space in Cape Town. Since opening in Parktown North in 2003, Gallery MOMO has established itself as one of Johannesburgs’s leading galleries, housing an innovative roster of unique and stimulating contemporary artists.

While maintaining a strong presence at this years’s Cape Town Art Fair, the new gallery marks the first time that Gallery MOMO will have a dedicated space in the Mother City; presenting exciting new opportunities to introduce their bold and challenging artists to the Cape Town art scene.

Of the possibilities offered by the new space, Gallery MOMO owner Monna Mokoena notes that:

‘Our presence in Cape Town affords us the opportunity to present significant exhibitions which cross-pollinate between contemporary and modern art. The large rooms allow for our artists to fully realise their work uninhibited by constraints of space, especially with regards to installations. Equally important is the state of the art projector room, which will be dedicated to optimally showcase video art.’

Gallery MOMO Cape Town will inaugurate the opening of the gallery to the public from Thursday 28 May 2015, with a group exhibition.

A solo exhibition of work by Blessing Ngobeni, is due to open mid June 2015.
