Which Came First: Errol Morris’ essay on Fenton

A story by

Chad Rossouw

on the 9th of July 2015. This should take you < 1 minute to read.

Suggested recently to me in a Facebook comment thread, this has got to be the most intriguing art historical investigation I have read. Errol Morris’ essay on Roger Fenton’s famous pair of photographs The Valley of the Shadow of Death asks which of the images was shot first. It’s a long read, but well worth it.
