THIS WEEK:

With the announcement of the winners of the Arts & Culture Trust awards last week, it has become apparent that the efforts of the visual artists, who donated work to an auction at the Goodman Gallery in aid of the ACT certainly did not influence the judges (not that that was the artists' intention, of course). Music and performance won virtually all the awards. Kathryn Smith writes it up.

Want a hot work of art at a good price? Work in the Big Brother House, by some of the country's top artists, will be auctioned in aid of AIDS orphans later this month. See News.

Staff changes: Starting November, arts editor Sean O'Toole (check the most recent issue of Design Indaba) will take over the editorship of ArtThrob, an appointment we announce with great satisfaction. Kathryn Smith will remain as contributing editor, and hand over the Gauteng department to Michelle Matthews.

Next update: November 1
