Khoisan art on show in Cape Town
There are only about 35 Khoisan artists in the Southern African region. They are all members of communities in the Northern Cape, Botswana, Angola and Namibia. The rarity of their art has resulted in huge interest from investors. Cape Town's Art of Africa gallery is currently exhibiting a selection of paintings whose originality, conscience and beauty hint at the attempts of this fragile ethnic grouping to re-empower a culture that has all but vanished.
