Red World

This month, ArtThrob highlights extracts from the work of young Cape Town photographer Tracy Gander, who most recently exhibited her 'Babes' series at Bang the Gallery in Cape Town. Gander was also responsible for the redisgn of ArtThrob, and regularly maintains the website.

Gander's piece Red World mutates though shifting landscapes, which eventually become overlaid with the drawn images of a woman, an earth goddess, engaged in the symbolic act of giving birth. Music heightens the mood. Many of these images formed part of the recent Cement Splicer event in Cape Town.
Depending on your downloading capacity, choose from a shorter (5MG) or a longer (7.6MG) extract.
