DAG donation by Langa Magwa

Artist, Langa Magwa has donated an example of his work to the Durban Art Gallery (DAG). Recently nominated for the DaimlerChrysler award for sculpture, the DAG already possesses other examples of Magwa's works in the Permanent Collection.

Magwa is known for work utilising animal hide to explore black identity in contemporary society. In his letter of donation, Magwa writes that: "This gift is a token of appreciation towards the Durban Art Gallery for their efforts in uplifting and encouraging young artists in and around eThekwini [the greater Durban area]".

The work will be on view in the 'New Acquisitions Exhibition' in July later this year.
