New gallery space opens in Johannesburg with 'Global Art'
The Seippel Gallery officially opened its doors on February 22, in August House in End Street, Johannesburg. Gallery owner Dr. Ralf Seippel has been active in South Africa since 1997, curating non-commercial exhibitions, facilitating artist's residencies and organising exchange programmes.
The gallery is tipped as a venue for exhibiting work by local and international artists alike, with a special focus on introducing young, relatively unknown artists into the South African art market.
The inaugural exhibition is entitled 'Global Art' and features work by Bonile Bam, Mbongeni Buthelezi, Jürgen Schadeberg, Linda Shongwe and Fikile Skosana, from South Africa; Tony Clark and Julie Dowling from Australia; and Eckhard Etzold, Andreas Kaiser and Robert Klümpen from Germany.
