Clive Kellner to leave the JAG?
by Michael Smith

Clive Kellner, chief curator of the Johannesburg Art Gallery, has not renewed his contract. Kellner, widely credited for much of the JAG's resuscitation in recent years, secured shows for the institution like 'Africa Remix', which was not originally scheduled to touch African soil.

Kellner was understandably reticent to reveal further details on this story. When approached for comment, Kellner said he wasn't in a position to say more than that he hadn't renewed his contract with the JAG. However he did point out that he would remain in his current position until the end of 2008.

This news comes in the wake of Director Marilyn Martin's retirement from the South African National Gallery in Cape Town, and of course in the much-publicised shock sale of Goodman Gallery by Linda Givon.
