It is indeed boomtime when you find an interview with the weirdly wonderful fashion photographer David la Chapelle (remember those wicked Diesel ads?) nestled next to a select opportunity to order the brand new all-silver Lambretta scooter, inspired by the original 1950s design, online. That's just a fraction of Designboom's scope. The net this independent e-zine casts takes in all forms of the contemporary creative scene - graphic design, music, jewellery, fine art, industrial design, decor, architecture, fashion, furniture ... and the catch is plentiful! There's hours' worth of intriguing reading here, especially when you can cross from Q&A with Hugh Hefner to the Trend and Trash section's review of sex design and the "playboy" bunny. Conceived as an information and communication hub for the international design community, Designboom serves its purpose admirably by offering extensive net resources and a myriad articles, interviews, reviews and features on design history and contemporary events. One of the highlights of the latest edition is snapshots and a reportback from London's 100% Design Week - billed as "the biggest report ever seen on the web". Designboom's TV section features film clips, and you can shop for novelty fleamarket finds, vintage pieces or chic design items, depending on your taste. Register with "my DesignBoom" if you'd like to receive the newsletter updates. Designboom is edited by Birgit Lohmann and was launched in April 2000. Naturally, its physical headquarters are located in the stylish setting of Milan, Italy.
