A right to vote, or is it simply comment

The work produced by the finalists of the first phase of the Public Art Commission was on display in the SANG from 9 to 14 September. Lovell Friedman, Claire Gavronsky and Rose Shakinovsky (working together), Matthew Hindley, Mark O'Donovan, James Reed and Roger van Wyk developed their proposals further in two and three dimensions. Members of the public were invited to view the entries and to comment.

Whether these opinions will necessarily sway those of the judging panel - the museum's art division staff, Andrew Lamprecht, Iain Low, Mokena Makeka and Michelle Robertson-Swift - is yet to be determined. This panel met on September 15 to judge the second stage of entries by the shortlisted artists.
