The southern hemisphere comes together in the South Project
by Kresta Tyler Johnson
Launching in July 2004 in Melbourne, Australia, the South Project is billed as a major cultural event. South 1 will include over 80 individuals assembling to create a venue of cross-cultural, cross-continental dialogues. The impetus is to explore cultural exchanges and possibilities unique to countries in the southern hemisphere.
The forums take place from July 1-4, 2004 at the University of Melbourne and are open to the general public. Following this year's event, the South Project envisions South 2, a series of workshops, exhibitions, performances and residencies taking place in subsequent years. South 3 will take place in 2008 as a culmination of events and ideas.
