National Arts Festival 2015

The National Arts Festival opens in Grahamstown today, this year featuring a variety of contemporary art exhibitions, and some with a more historical focus . Standard Bank Young Artist and Performance award winners Kemang Wa Lehulere and Athi-Patra Ruga will be showing, as well as Simon Gush who is curated by Lerato Bereng  as part of the Festival’s inaugural ‘Featured Curator Programme’.

Other shows on offer include; Monique Pelser’s ‘Conversations with my Father’, ‘Battleground’, curated by Michael Godby, a solo show by Themba Shibase, Jodi Bieber’s ‘Between Darkness and Light’ and Keith Dietrich: ‘Fragile histories, fugitive lives’.
