The ART WEEK CAPE TOWN programme includes exhibitions, special projects and talks and will take place in the Cape Town City Bowl, Woodstock and surrounds.
Open to the public, the programme aims to make different manifestations of contemporary art accessible to as many people as possible. In 2016, ART WEEK CAPE TOWN will coincide with the Cape Town Art Fair, which attracts an international audience of collectors and curators.
AWCT16 programme includes:
TUESDAY 16th
ART WEEK CAPE TOWN | Launch
Live Architecture: the 55 Minute Hour by Off Plan International
– a collective featuring Mary Corrigall, Amy Watson, and Nelisiwe Xaba. Set in a disused manufacturing site in Salt River, once the hub of Cape Town’s garment manufacturing industry, Live Architecture: the 55 Minute Hour negotiates regulated factory life, clothing and the politics of gentrification. The interdisciplinary programme brings together the work of sound and performance artists to create an experimental and immersive experience that encourages audiences to interrogate the chosen site outside of its everyday use.
