Museum Education Internship at Wits Art museum
WAM is seeking a skilled and motivated young Museum Education Intern. The internship will provide an opportunity to contribute substantively to the work of, and learn from, the Education Curator. The intern will be tasked with specific responsibilities related to museum education, programming and research for the school programme. (S)he will gain experience in the field of museum education and develop various skills. The encumbent will also create or enhance connections between WAM and school educators. Flexibility and a willingness to take part in a range of activities at the museum, as well as conduct field research, are required. Knowledge of at least 2 South African languages is essential.
Requirements:
Candidates need to have completed or be currently studying towards a degree in the arts. The applicant will be working at the museum in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. We are looking for an intern who is committed, hard-working, positive, open-minded, reflective and willing to learn.Time Commitment:
Part-time post consisting of 3 months 50% followed by 3 months 70%, beginning 1 April 2016 and ending on 31 September.Hours:
08h30 – 12h30 (first 3 months) and 08h00 – 14h30 (second 3 months) remunerated.Application procedure:
