Rest in Peace:

Andrew Verster (1937 – 2020)

A news item by Artthrob on the 21st of February 2020. This should take you < 1 minute to read.

Painter, writer, playwright, and lecturer Andrew Verster has passed away on Sunday 16th February.

In her obituary for Verster, Carol Brown notes that: “Andrew Verster died peacefully in his bed on Sunday 16th February. It was the kind if death he would have wished for. No fuss, no drama – an end to a life well lived.”

Verster, a prolific artist who had contributed immensely to the art world, was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Arts and Design by Durban University of Technology (DUT) in April 2009. This was in recognition of his significant contribution to the Arts through his paintings, writings and designs of set and costumes – and for his generous community contributions.

A tribute from ArtThrob is forthcoming.
