This print forms part of a portfolio titled 20/20 which aims to promote 20 younger artists’ work through print editions of 20, made specifically for ArtThrob.
BIOGRAPHY_
Lauren Palte (b. 1982) is a Cape Town based painter. Palte was selected as one one of the 40 finalists for the SPI National Portrait Award in 2013. Her most recent work uses a copper plate as an oil painting substrate. Its smooth surface allows the paint to worked while very fluid, opening up plays with erasure and transparency.
Recent solo exhibitions include ‘A Wounded Surface’ (2011) at the AVA Gallery, Cape Town, and ‘When I Grow Up’ (2006) at Rust en Vrede Gallery, Durbanville. Selected group exhibitions include ‘Seeking Eden’ (2014) at the Casa Labia, ‘Scintilla: An Alchemy Show’ (2014) at Commune.1, ‘Factory Girls’ (2014) at James Mudge Furniture Studio, Cape Town, and ‘Paint+’ (2013) at Nirox, Johannesburg.
