Wilhelm Saayman: This Disguise

A by Artthrob on the 4th of April 2016. This should take you < 1 minute to read.

PRIEST ESPRESSOBAR and FIRST THURSDAYS invites you to Wilhelm Saayman’s ‘This Disguise’ exhibition taking place at 142 Jan Smuts Avenue, Rosebank, JHB (opposite the Goodman Gallery)

Join us on Thursday 7 April 2016 from 6pm onwards.

In continuing his exploration of painting, Wilhelm Saayman returns to utilizing a vivid colour palette and expressionism, combined with figurative and symbolic elements to present a body of work that asks questions regarding chance and the artist’s projected persona. Are these paintings an embodiment of the person that creates them? Or are they merely a front? A disguise for the artist to project into the world? And what role does luck play? Or is it all just work and no play?
