AVA | Call for Submissions & Proposals

A story by Artthrob on the 26th of April 2016. This should take you < 1 minute to read.

With your help, the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) is taking itself to the next level. As you know, the AVA Gallery is an NPO with Public Benefit status, managed by a Board that is nominated and elected annually at its Annual General Meeting (AGM). The board is divided into sub-committees in order to affect the smooth running of the institution. The Selection Committee adjudicates proposals for exhibitions at the AVA.

Signed-up members are invited to submit a work for the following upcoming exhibitions:

  • UNDER 18s ONLY is an exhibition that encourages collecting art from an early age onwards. It will take place in the AVA’s Mezzanine Gallery from 16 June – 16 July 2016 (school holidays, opening on Youth Day). A crowd funding campaign is in the pipeline to seek support from parents who like to introduce their children to art collecting. AVA seeks from you: a work that can sell for R2500 or less. Deadline: 21 May 2016.
  • MEMBERS EXHIBITION is an uncurated exhibition, salon style, scheduled to open on 8 October 2016. Paid-up members are welcome to submit one art work, max. size 60 x 60cm, in the month of August 2016 only. The gallery can install up to 150 art works and will operate on a first-come-first-serve basis.

In addition, the AVA invites for proposals from artists, curators, galleries and other art institutions for its exhibition schedule 2017. Application forms are available from their website – on the right hand side ‘Exhibition Application’ and ‘Exhibition Application Instructions’ – or in hard copy at the gallery. Deadline for submission: 1 July 2016.
