On Saturday the 1st October The Artists’ Press will be in Johannesburg at Parktown High School for Girls for their 25 Years of The Artists’ Press – Limited Edition Print Pop Up Shop.
“We have gone through our storeroom and have selected prints from the past 25 years to show off. Never before have so many of the prints that we have worked on been out and about in the same space. Quite a few treasures have been uncovered. Delicious refreshments, free art activities (for children and adults) and live music by The Runaway Train Cult are going to make this an event to be at. The atelier will be on hand to take care of any framing needs that you may have. Mark and Sam Nhlengethwa will talk about working together and what collaboration is all about at midday. Willem Boshoff’s latest prints will also be launched on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.”
“Willem Boshoff has recently signed his new prints. Lost in dark I and II are the first prints made at The Artists’ Press that incorporate sand blasting, a technique that connects the prints with the sand based work that Boshoff has done. When one is lost in the dark, things are not clear, text and directions become difficult to read and decipher. Panic sets in. Much like the current turmoil at tertiary educational institutions in South Africa, many of which are beset with burning issues relating to language.”
Please let The Artists’ Press know if you would like to order any of the prints or if they can send you high res images. To read more about the prints go to http://www.artprintsa.com/
