Our Subscriptions

ArtThrob provides open, incisive and insightful commentary on South African art. We are committed to art criticism, Cameron Platter, Sex Slaves. Silkscreen on archival cotton rag paper, 66.5 x 50.5 cm to the written form and the importance of reflective text in art, and we havefulfilled this commitment for twenty years. We are also committed to paying our writers, so that they can continue to do the awesome work that they do. ArtThrob is a non-profit, and the majority of our budget goes towards paying writers.

ArtThrob is free, and will always remain free.

We are offering a subscription to help us maintain our commitment, while providing benefits to our loyal readers. ArtThrob is fundedGeorgina Gratrix, Flowers for I.G. Silkscreen on Zerkall Intaglio 250gsm, 50.5 x 65.5 cm by selling editions of prints generously donated by some of South Africa’s top artists. Our editions programme has emphasised important work by important artists at an affordable price. Our new subscriptions are making these prints more accessible, with big discounts and a payment plan.

How it works:

You make a monthly contribution, which is saved in your subscription account. When you have enough in your account, you can purchase a print. Or if you are impatient, you can pay in the balance.

You also get a big discount.

The benefit to you is great art, at a discounted rate and affordable monthly payments. You also get to support our ongoing commitment to art criticism and art writers in South Africa.

Slow But Steady

You put R200 per month into your account and you get a 10% discount at our shop. This is a great option if you have an eye on some our lower cost prints by younger artists.

Eat Dessert Before Dinner

You put R300 per month into your account Lisa Brice, Untitled, 2007. A three colour lithographic print on Arches paper, 66 x 50.5 cmand you get a 15% discount at our shop.This is really fantastic value for money with a huge discount and a quicker build-up in your account. We’d get this one.

Nothing By Halves

You put R500 per month into your account and you get a 20% discount at our shop. The big discount here makes this option valuable for big collectors.
