A documentary film made during an international artists workshop in Wales UK with 20 artists from southern Africa, the UK and Europe, over 2 weeks in October 2015. The film follows the experiments and playful creativity of the artists, as they get to know each other, collaborate to have adventures and become great friends. The Popty workshop used the Triangle Network model, which is the foundation of many successful workshops and studios across the world, including Greatmore Street studios in Cape Town and the Bag Factory in Johannesburg. Popty 2015 (‘popty’ is a welsh word meaning ‘bakehouse’) was the first workshop of its kind in west Wales and takes place on a beautiful farm in rural Pembrokeshire countryside. The documentary was shot by Pete Telfer of Pixel Foundry for Culture Colony and the whole Popty 2015 project funded by the Arts Council of Wales. The project coordinator Victoria Malcolm will be presenting the event. You are invited to join us to watch the 1 hour film, which will be followed by a showreel of very short films by Popty artists, edited by artist Joseph Coetzee.
